Our Mission: We are an internet knowledge and information exchange resource for EiA members. For those newer to the Internet, the following is a brief description of why the Internet can and will play an ever increasing role  in our society as a whole.

As one ages, any way to stay involved with family and friends is a strong value.  E-mail is easy to learn and use.  Grandchildren all use cell phones and computers!

The Importance of the Internet: The Internet’s rate of impact on society and business  has been nothing but astounding. In today’s marketplace most businesses must have a strong Internet strategy in order to survive and thrive. For an increasing number, including individuals in their 50s, 60s and beyond, the Internet presents the opportunity to generate additional income and for some, even a second or even a third career. On a personal level, today,  many electronic media, whether Cell Phones, GPS, Television, E-Mail, Web Sites enable us to connect to each other and community resources.

It may sometimes seem that younger generations have taken over and we at our life stage are out of the game, but we need not be.  According to the Pew Foundation’s ”Internet and American Life” project, baby boomers account for 36% of the Internet population and are just as likely to purchase new products and services online as younger consumers.

We’re hanging right in there and growing. In fact, we are frequently reported as the fastest growing segment on the Internet.  We’re on Facebook connecting with old school friends, Skype-ing to connect with our kids and relatives across the world. We “Google” for places to go, eat, sleep, get directions and learn new things. The Yellow Pages have been relegated to becoming permanent booster chairs for our grandkids.

Conclusion: The Internet and the technologies it empowers, from simple cell phones to dramatic health care advances, permeate our lives at an increasing rate. Our aim in the Internet Users Group is to help all of  us stay abreast of how it can better enable, not only our CtC members but also our community as a whole.
